Marcus Rashford is hoping to emulate Manchester United's away win over City in 2016.

The Manchester United striker marked his first derby by scoring the winner in a 1-0 success in March 2016 and would love to play his part in the victory - or draw - that would delay City sealing the championship.

He said: “The team played brilliantly in that game and we deserved to win. That feeling going away to a big team and winning is something special. To do it together as a team, you hold it with you and it gives you the strength and motivation to continue doing it.”

Jesse Lingard says United must play with “no fear” and will be making a mistake if they just focus on wrecking City’s bid to secure the championship.

"You have to go into it like any other game because if you let other things come into play it might affect your performance, ” he said. “We have performed well there before so I don’t see why we can’t do it again. ”

Jesse Lingard has surpassed expectations for Manchester United this season.

Rashford has scored 12 goals in all competitions this season, six in the Premier League, and he will be hoping to heap more misery on Pep Guardiola's City after their capitulation at Anfield on Wednesday.

Lingard has 13 goals to his name this campaign and has developed a talent for scoring in big games, including England's winner against the Netherlands last month.

In the last five meetings between the two sides both have won twice, making the game on Sunday tough to predict.

Vincent Kompany claimed that City have even more incentive to win after their embarressing defeat in Europe.

He said: "It would be the best thing to go into the second leg with Liverpool as champions.

"We’ve got plenty of opportunities to do the job in the Premier League and we’ve got only one chance to do it in the Champions League. But we’ll still make the Premier League a priority now for the next three days.

"It’s never been like this. Normally you win the League and go on holiday but this one feels completely different."
