Forest Green Rovers vs Colchester United - Doidge in contention for Rovers return
Posted Sunday, April 01, 2018 by PA
Forest Green could welcome back Christian Doidge for their League Two clash with Colchester.
The striker, who has scored 16 league goals this season, has missed Rovers’ last four games with an ankle injury but is set to return to spearhead their survival fight.
Farrend Rawson was close to returning from a hip injury against Yeovil last time out before the game was postponed, and the defender could be in line to feature this time around.
Rovers are two places and six points clear of the relegation places in their first season in the Football League.
Colchester’s main selection decision will concern the fitness of Tom Lapslie after he was substituted in the first half against Luton on Friday.
Lapslie was involved in the incident that saw Luton’s Luke Berry suffer a serious injury and was himself replaced during the lengthy stoppage, with reports of a hamstring injury.
Fellow midfielder Doug Loft has yet to feature in 2018 due to a shoulder injury and remains a long-term absentee.
Colchester will be seeking a third successive win having beaten both Stevenage and the Hatters.
