Draxler fumes at PSG's European hoodoo amid €400 million spend

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Julian Draxler was not afraid to voice his disappointment and anger towards head coach Unai Emery after the Parisians' last-16 exit to Real Madrid, where they lost 5-2 on aggregate to the 12-time champions.

The 24-year-old disagreed with Emery's tactics for the game, with the German replacing Angel Di Maria in the 76th minute, and he also criticised the transfer policy used by PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

"Real Madrid played quietly and were not nervous," Draxler said to the German television network ZDF.

"We moved the ball, but you can't win by doing that.

"You must press Real when you are 3-1 down, not just make passes and wait for something to fall from the sky.

"This summer, we spent 400 million euros and everyone said that this would change things, but we still haven't progressed past this round."

Regarding Emery, Draxler was clearly dissatisfied with the selection policy and tactics of the Spaniard.

"There was a lack of sensitivity, I don't understand," he said. "It was not logical.

"The main objective [to qualify] did not change.

"I don't know what happened, I was a surprised and a little angry."
