Paul Gascoigne Talks About His Addiction To Calpol, Red Bull And Laxatives In Heartbreaking TV Interview

England legend Paul Gascoigne has spoken about his addiction to the medicine Calpol, as well as admitting that he used to drink up to 30 cans of Red Bull a day.

In an emotional interview, the 50-year-old also spoke about his father John, who passed away earlier this year after a battle with cancer, on ITV show Loose Women.

"Three months ago, my dad wasn't well, I didn't take that well, because I'm really close to my dad. " he said.

"With my dad's sense of humour, it was funny because I said to him, ' Dad, you're not going to pass away are you?' And he said, 'The way you're going you won't be far behind us!'

Gascoigne, who says he has been sober for three months, went on to speak about how he became addicted to Calpol, the energy drink Red Bull and laxatives.

"I'll drink anything. That was funny - I wasn't drinking and I decided to look a bottle of Calpol that had 000.1 per cent of alcohol and I thought well if I have 20 bottles of that it might kick in."

"I got addicted to Calpol and what was embarrassing when you go to rehab you get people in for this and that and they asked 'what are you in for?' and I said 'Calpol.'

"Everyone just started laughing. Laxatives as well because I thought I could lose weight through that, then Red Bull. Red Bull was horrific from the caffeine.

"Sometimes I was drinking up to 30 cans a day and doing the gym twice a day. I wasn't good. I knew the withdrawal was coming off the caffeine. I'd been six months sober and the caffeine withdrawal was horrific."

It's great to see Gazza looking so healthy in this recent interview.
