Birmingham vs Barnsley - David Davis a doubt for Birmingham
Posted Friday, February 23, 2018 by PA
Birmingham will once more check on the fitness of captain David Davis ahead of their home game against Championship relegation rivals Barnsley.
The midfielder has been out since suffering a knee injury during the derby defeat to Aston Villa and Blues boss Steve Cotterill has said that the problem is not clearing up as quickly as they had hoped.
Che Adams is getting nearer full match fitness after another substitute appearance at Brentford, where he played the entire second half. The forward could be in contention to start on Saturday.
Midfielder Maikel Kieftenbeld completes a two-match ban while Jonathan Grounds (knee) and Isaac Vassell (knee) remain out and will not play again this season.
Barnsley, second-bottom of the table and just two points behind 20th-placed Birmingham, will be without Matt Mills.
Mills has an injury so either Matty Pearson or Adam Jackson will come into the team at St Andrew’s.
Tykes boss Jose Morais has hinted that will not be the only change following the home defeat to Burton in midweek.
George Moncur, Kieffer Moore, Brad Potts and Mamadou Thiam are among those who will come into contention for recalls.
