Scott Allan scored the only goal of the game as Dundee beat Inverness 1-0 to reach the Scottish Cup fifth round.
Allan struck two minutes into the second half to settle the fourth-round tie at Caledonian Stadium.
Victory earns Dundee a home tie with fellow Ladbrokes Premiership side Motherwell in the next round.
The hosts had a golden chance in the first two minutes when Allan gave the ball away but George Oakley failed to hit the target.
Minutes later Oakley chanced his luck from 20 yards with a thunderous low drive which flashed wide of goal as the Championship side continued their bright start.
Dundee grew into the game and Kerr Waddell’s 50-yard pass found Sofien Moussa who forced a save from home goalkeeper Mark Ridgers.
Oakley had another sight of goal when he was set up by Liam Polworth but he was denied by a fine slide tackle from Jack Hendry.
The hosts wanted a penalty on the stroke of half-time when Aaron Doran claimed he was brought down by Hendry, but the referee booked the Inverness player for simulation, much to the fury of home manager John Robertson.
The deadlock was broken early in the second half when Allan played a neat one-two with AJ Leitch-Smith on the edge of the box before he fired a powerful low drive into the bottom right corner of the net.
Dundee could have gone 2-0 up when Ridgers failed to deal with Allan’s corner which lead to a scramble in the box. Hendry’s shot was saved by the keeper and Mark O’Hara hit a post before Coll Donaldson cleared the ball away.
Ridgers was called on again to deny Allan grabbing his second from a free-kick, tipping the effort over the crossbar.
Caley Thistle threatened a late equaliser when Iain Vigurs corner found the head of Oakley but Kevin Holt was in the right place to clear off the line.
