Guardiola: The rest of Spain must understand what Catalonia wants

Recently listed in a Spanish Police report on 'rebellion,' Manchester City coach and proud Catalan, Pep Guardiola, has called on Spain to show more understanding to the autonomous region where he was born.

After a calamitous election process back at the beginning of October, a much more peaceful election, with a huge turnout, took place on Thursday.

"Now the rest of Spain should try to understand the reality that Catalonia has clearly shown what it wants," Guardiola said at his pre-match press conference for the City-Bournemouth match.

"On Thursday there was a legal election and the Catalans with their vote expressed what they are.

"The most important thing is that a lot of people voted - more than 81 percent - it's truly incredible."

With some politicians still in prison as a result of the October elections, Guardiola called upon those with power to do so, to allow those 'prisoners' to return to their families.

"It's not fair and politicians should start acting like politicians, so please start a dialogue," he continued.

"That's what everybody wants, people who are still in prison to leave as soon as possible."
