Courtois open to Real Madrid move amid Chelsea exit admission

Thibaut Courtois has fuelled talk of a move to Real Madrid by reiterating that he intends to leave Chelsea for Spain at some stage.

The Belgian goalkeeper has made no secret of his desire to head back to La Liga having previously enjoyed three productive years on loan at Atletico Madrid.

Courtois made that move while waiting for an opportunity to present itself at Stamford Bridge and he is planning to tread a similar path in the future.

The 25-year-old is yet to agree an extension to a Chelsea contract which is due to expire in 2019 and Real have been heavily linked with an approach for his services for some time.

"Everybody knows that due to my personal situation, Spain attracts me," Courtois, whose two children are being raised in Madrid, told La Sexta.

"If it is not now, it will be in some years."

Courtois added when asked if he was waiting on an offer from Real: "No, I am calm. I am happy at Chelsea.

"I just want to wait because now there are many games and I prefer to have my head focused on that."

Courtois revealed in November that there has been no progress in contract talks with Chelsea.

He said: "Regarding my contract, that's the thing where Chelsea must deal with my agent. I don't think there have been any new developments."

While the highly-rated shot-stopper appears unfazed by the lack of movement in extension talks, the issue is a source of concern for Blues boss Antonio Conte.

The Italian has regularly been quizzed on the subject of Courtois' contract, telling reporters: "He is one of the best goalkeepers in the world and has a great potential.

"He is young but he shows a great maturity. I hope to find an agreement with the club.

"But I think this topic is the club's responsibility. This is for the club, I hope in the future they have an agreement."
