Dortmund can relieve pressure on boss Peter Bosz by beating Bayer Leverkusen

Borussia Dortmund manager Peter Bosz insists his side must beat Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday with his job hanging in the balance following a miserable run of form.

Dortmund have lost four of their last six matches in the Bundesliga, and endured a devastating collapse last weekend when they threw away a four-goal lead to draw against bitter rivals Schalke.

Bosz, the Dutchman who took over at Dortmund in the summer, won six of his opening seven fixtures in charge, but his side have slipped to fifth in the table and he now faces serious question marks over his future at the club.

Bosz will take his team to Leverkusen, who sit one spot below them in the standings.

"The most important thing is for us to get back to winning ways," Bosz said on the club's website.

"We've had a very good and a very intense week of training and we've taken the time to analyse in detail this long spell with unsatisfactory results.

"I can't be distracted by speculation now. I am used to it and I know what can happen. I would have liked things to be different, but talk of my future does not help. It's only a distraction and I have to concentrate on my work."

In contrast to Dortmund's troubles, Bayer will head into Saturday's fixture bidding to extend an eight-game unbeaten run.

Heiko Herrlich's side have four victories and as many draws from their last eight matches and have moved to the shoulder of Dortmund in the table.

Germany international Kevin Volland has been crucial to their hot streak, scoring four goals in his last five league appearances.

Volland now has eight for the campaign which is two more than he managed for the whole of last season.

"You have to motivate yourself again and again," Volland told Bundesliga.de.

"If it does not feel like you're saying to yourself, 'Hey I did not forget it', even if you're in a difficult phase. 'I can do it. I've proved it and the ball will go into the goal someday'.

"Things are going well for me again this season. That's great, but of course there is more. That's why I keep going. Therefore, I am looking forward to the next weeks.

"We have shown that if we play concentrated for 90 minutes, stay on the gas, we can win against every opponent."
