Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has revealed that he decided to leave Arsenal in the summer because he needed to win trophies.
The Poland international, who had fallen behind Petr Cech and David Ospina in the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium, departed after eight years to sign for Juventus, following an impressive two-year loan spell at their Serie A rivals Roma.
The 27-year-old 'keeper – who is currently the second-choice goalkeeper to the legendary Gianluigi Buffon at Juve – admits that it was an easy decision to make the switch as he believes he can win trophies and achieve better success in Italy, something he couldn't do with the Gunners.
"I came here because I need to win everything," Szczesny told Mediaset Premium, as reported by the Express.
"I chose Juventus for their winning mindset. Every day in training I feel stronger and more ready to play for this club. It seemed a normal choice to me, when Juve call you, you have to go.
"When you play for Juventus the goal is always to win everything, and it's no different this year."
In his eight years at the Emirates, the Polish goalkeeper only won two FA Cups and one Community Shield and will be seeking to clinch the Serie A title this season with the defending champions.
Juventus are currently second in table, just two points behind first-placed Napoli after dropping points away to Atalanta which halted their initial 100% start to the season.
