Bale and his 'fear' of speaking Spanish

It may now be over four years since Gareth Bale's transfer from Tottenham to Real Madrid, but the player still doesn't speak very much Spanish in interviews or press conferences.
That, though, might be because he is apprehensive about talking in Spanish, according to his teacher.
"He has a better level [of Spanish] than he shows in interviews," his language tutor Michael Gomez explained in a mini-documentary with La Sexta.
"He is a perfectionist and until he reaches a very good level he'll feel that he isn't perfect at it and he'll cut himself short.
"We will do all we can to make sure his understanding of Spanish improves and, above all, to help him loose a little bit of this fear.
"He knows that he needs to keep taking classes to improve in the language and to adapt to life in Spain even more."
Gomez also showed the cameras a Real Madrid shirt that Bale gifted him for his birthday, signed with a message in Spanish.
