Carlo Ancelotti has already agreed his Bayern exit in January, claims Basler

The former Bayern Munich midfielder Mario Basler has claimed Carlo Ancelotti will leave the Bavarian giants in the winter for a Chinese adventure.

Ancelotti, who joined Bayern in the summer of 2016, currently has less than two years left on his present contract which expires in June 2019.

Basler, though, has stated the Italian tactician will not honour that agreement instead will depart for the Far East when the Chinese season resumes in a few months time.

"I've heard that Ancelotti has signed a contract with a Chinese club," he said, as reported by Football Italia.

"From what I know he will leave in the winter because that is when the season starts in China.

"I can't confirm it to be 100% true, but my source is reliable.

"Let's put it this way, I can't say anything negative about my source, which I trust.

"It's not a given that it will happen, but that is the rumour going around."

Ancelotti: a European giant

A well-travelled coach, the former Italian midfielder, is one of six managers - along with José Mourinho, Ernst Happel, Giovanni Trapattoni, Tomislav Ivić and Eric Gerets - to have won domestic league championships in at least four different countries.

Ancelotti's league titles have come in his native Italy, England, France and Germany with AC Milan, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and the aforementioned Bayern respectively.

He's also one of two managers, with Bob Paisley being the other, to have won the European Cup on three occasions, albeit the Englishmen achieved all of his triumphs at one club (Liverpool) whereas Ancelotti has shared those moments with AC Milan (2003 and 2007) and Real Madrid (2014).

Since taking charge of Bayern he's overseen 55 matches, winning 40 of those and losing just eight, whilst registering 149 goals and conceding 49.
