Liverpool agree £40m deal for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - source
Sources said that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain had been keen on a Liverpool switch for a while.

Liverpool have agreed a fee with Arsenal worth up to £40 million for the transfer of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, a source has told ESPN FC.

Arsenal have granted permission for Oxlade-Chamberlain to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical with the Reds.

Chelsea had agreed a fee with Arsenal for the England international earlier in the week, but sources said that the player rejected the chance to move to Stamford Bridge.

Sources have indicated that Oxlade-Chamberlain has been keen on a switch to Anfield for some time now and is excited at the prospect of working with manager Jurgen Klopp.

The 24-year-old is currently away with the England squad preparing for their World Cup qualifier against Malta on Friday.

According to a source, the English FA would allow a medical to take place at St. George's Park to minimise disruption ahead of their two upcoming matches.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has played every game of Arsenal's season so far, including Sunday's 4-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield.

Arsenal ran the risk of losing the player for nothing upon the expiration of his contract if they did not sell him this summer.
