Arsenal want to sell Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Chelsea ahead of Liverpool.

The Mirror says Chelsea are willing to pay £40 million for the Gunners' midfield star, who is also wanted by Kop manager Jurgen Klopp.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger does not want Oxlade-Chamberlain to leave, but the England ace is determined to quit the Emirates before the window closes.

Wenger sees Chelsea as serious title challengers, with or without the Ox, but reckons Liverpool would struggle to push for a top-four slot with Champions League fixtures to negotiate and does not want to strengthen their chances.

Champions Chelsea are willing to meet Arsenal's asking price for a player who has turned down a £180,000-a-week contract offer in the past few days.
