McDonald winner keeps Dundee United on right track

Scott McDonald's goal with 10 minutes to go kept Dundee United's perfect start to the Ladbrokes Scottish Championship intact as they won 1-0 at home to struggling Brechin.
Dundee United started well and after nine minutes a good build-up presented Scott Fraser with an opening, but his curling shot was save by Brechin keeper Graeme Smith.
Captain Mark Durnan glanced a header wide as the home side continued to apply pressure, but they were unable to add to their advantage before the break and nearly paid the price as Brechin saw an effort come back off a post after 39 minutes.
Brechin started the second half well and Jordan Sinclair had a shot tipped over the bar by Dundee United keeper Harry Lewis, but with 10 minutes remaining McDonald scored the winner from close range to seal the three points and make it three wins from as many games for the home side to keep them top of the table.
