Mansfield winger Alex MacDonald to miss visit of Forest Green

Mansfield winger Alex MacDonald continues his recovery from injury and will miss the visit of Forest Green.

MacDonald is back in training following a minor knee operation and next weekend's trip to Accrington has been earmarked for his possible return.

Stags boss Steve Evans made six changes against Rochdale in the Carabao Cup and the likes of Bobby Olejnik, Rhys Bennett, Krystian Pearce, Paul Digby, Jimmy Spencer and Omari Sterling-James will hope to have played their way into the manager's thinking for Saturday.

There could even be a further new arrival ahead of the game with Mansfield having made a club-record bid for a striker.

Forest Green have no new injury worries after their Carabao Cup extra-time defeat against MK Dons.

But Rovers boss Mark Cooper will consider the effects of 120 minutes on a heavy pitch on his squad before finalising his team selection.

Callum Evans, Drissa Traore and Scott Laird could all return after being benched in midweek, while Bradley Collins is expected to take over the goalkeeping gloves from Sam Russell again.

Teenage defender Alex Iacovitti has yet to feature since his loan move from Nottingham Forest after being injured in pre-season.
