Puyol and Raul back Laureus project in Miami

The poor but endearing neighbourhood of Little Havana in Miami has been given some hope by the Laureus Foundation, which has been backed by LaLiga greats Carlos Puyol and Raul, and the young kids now have a great chance of getting involved in football.

The organisation has spread to South Florida and will try to lead the young people on the right path. Half a million children from the area enjoyed an exciting match with their two idols while forgetting, at least for a while, that the same football field was an habitual scene of violence and drug addiction.

Once again, the global movement led by the Laureus Foundation, which celebrates the power of sport to bring people together and eradicate social miseries, made football change the landscape of a neighborhood accustomed to very different scenes.

The two former players of Barcelona and Real Madrid made a surprise visit to the kids and shared the same pitch and experience during a morning which was whipped by the usual heat and humidity that accompanies Miami.

But even that could not prevent Laureus and two of its members, they arrived where others do not even want to look.
