Manchester City to sign Kyle Walker: Tottenham star to move to Etihad in record £54m deal
Kyle Walker is one of Pep Guardiola's top summer targets for Man City

The England and Tottenham defender has snubbed offers from a host of clubs to join Pep Guardiola's men.

Etihad bosses will pay Spurs an initial fee of £45m plus £9m in add-ons making Walker the most expensive defender in world football.

Walker will travel to Manchester tonight before undergoing a medical tomorrow.

The right back has agreed a five-year-deal worth £150,000-a-week and will become the 15th most expensive player ever.

He is expected to join Guardiola's squad when they fly to America on Monday to begin their pre-season tour of America.

Guardiola targeted Walker last season and stepped up his attempts to sign him last month, as exclusively revealed in Starsport.

Etihad bosses were hoping to sign him for £40m, but have been forced to up their bid following Dani Alves's decision to snub them in favour of joining Paris St-Germain.

Guardiola was convinced he'd signed the Brazilian following extensive talks that resulted in the former Barcelona ace verbally agreeing a two-year-deal.

But Guardiola was left seething when Alves changed his mind and joined PSG on a deal worth around £230,000-a-week.

This resulted in Spurs chairman Daniel Levy increasing his asking price for Walker, with Etihad chiefs quick to meet his valuation.

Signing a new right back has been one of Guardiola's priorities and the Spaniard identified Walker as his No.1 choice.

Walker, 27, has established himself as one of the best full backs in the Premier League.

He joined Spurs from Sheffield United in 2009 for £9m and has gone on to become England's first choice right back.

He was a target of a number of clubs, but it is understood he has chosen to join City so he can be closer to his family, who still live in Sheffield.
