Renato Sanches Apologises After Posting 'Tasteless' Video

Renato Sanches hasn't been enjoying the best of times, recently.
The former Benfica starlet looked set for big things upon completing his move to Bayern Munich, last summer, but has instead found himself on the outside looking in at the German champions, with Carlo Ancelotti reducing the 19-year-old's role to mostly substitute appearances.
In fact, Sanches played 25 times for Bayern during his debut campaign for the club, without scoring a goal.
And his fortunes off the pitch aren't exactly doing much better, with the Portugal international forced to issue a public apology after posting a video in which he counted wads of money and smelled bank notes as he boastfully held them up to a camera.
After suffering a backlash from fans, Sanches took to Facebook to apologise for his actions, which he described as 'tasteless'.
Writing on the social media site, Sanches said in a statement, "There are tasteful jokes and others that are distasteful.
"In the face of what was released today, I have to atone for being distasteful, but also for the futile and ill-considered attitude I had.
"There is no excuse for this taking place, even in a small circle of friends and holiday atmosphere.
"My origins taught me to value what we can achieve with hard work and can only admit that my action was totally thoughtless.
"I assure you I am not like that, and I will always will fight, on and off the field, to be an example of professionalism, humility, character and dignity.
"It will serve as a lesson for the future!"
Sanches arrived at the Allianz Arena from Benfica in a £27.5 million deal, last year. However, despite being one of the most promising young players in world football, the Portuguese midfielder started just six Bundesliga games for Die Roten, completing 90 minutes just once.

Sanches has reportedly become disillusioned with life in Munich and would be allowed to leave this summer if the right bid came in for him.
Manchester United and Juventus are believed to be monitoring the teenager's situation.
