LIVERPOOL manager Jurgen Klopp turns 50 today – and Starsport looked back at the incredible goals he scored as a player to celebrate.

The Reds boss played for Bundesliga side Mainz 05 between 1990–2001, starting a managerial career with the club straight after.

Originally a striker, Klopp eventually changed positions and became a defender.

He scored 52 goals in 337 appearances.

And video shows just how good he was outfield.

Footage shows Klopp banging home a series of close-range goals as well as an absolute screamer from outside the box.

Liverpool have spent most of the day celebrating the German manager's birthday, tweeting out pictures of a cake made in the shape of his head and a video of him touching the This is Anfield sign in the player's tunnel.

Klopp has spent the summer hunting for new talent to add to his Anfield squad.

The German has reportedly got his sights on Porto player Rafa Soares, according to the Mirror and is currently in a battle with Chelsea for Ruben Neves, according to A Bola.

Italian newspaper Il Mattino report that Klopp has also put in a £25m bid for Serie A star Piotr Zieliński.
