Alvaro Morata to Manchester United: Striker tells Real Madrid he is leaving - report
Real Madrid star Alvaro Morata wants to join Manchester United

ALVARO MORATA has reportedly told Real Madrid he wants to leave this summer, with Manchester United attempting to bring the forward to Old Trafford.

Morata re-signed for Real Madrid last summer for a fee of £23million, two years after quitting the Bernabeu for Juventus.

However, despite scoring 20 goals from 42 appearances, the Spain international looks set to leave again in order to secure regular football elsewhere.

Manchester United have supposedly agreed personal terms with the player, with Jose Mourinho giving him his Real debut back in 2010.

The Red Devils have released Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Morata is among their targets to replace him.

And Spanish newspaper Marca claim the forward has now consequently told Real he is desperate to leave, with United closing in on his signature.

His agent Juanma Lopez reportedly met with general director Jose Angel Sanchez today to tell the club of his decision to seek a new challenge elsewhere.

And Lopez has admitted his client is eager to play more next season.

"He doesn't want to experience another season like that," he said.

"It was a great season, but he wants to play more."

Speaking after Real's 4-1 Champions League final win over Juventus on Saturday, Morata was coy on what the future holds for him.

"I don't know, it doesn't depend only on me," said Morata when asked about his future.

"I'm happy here, it's my dream to be here, we've just won the Champions League and I'm not thinking about anything other than celebrating.

"The only thing I've done is play, train and enjoy things with my team-mates and it doesn't depend on me.

"To return to Madrid and win the Champions League is incredible.

"We have matches with the national team. After that, we'll see.

"It'll be a beautiful summer: I'm getting married and I've won two trophies."
