Arsene Wenger's contract at Arsenal runs out in the summer

The Arsenal manager’s is out of contract and even those closest to him still do not know if he will sign to stay on or go.

But Wenger insists he will put all the uncertainty aside once more as the Gunners go searching for a Champions League miracle.

They must beat Everton and hope Liverpool slip up against already-relegated Middlesbrough at Anfield to sneak into the top four by the back door.

Wenger has qualified for Europe’s top club competition for 20 years in a row and is desperate not to miss out in what could be his final year at the club.

But he insists the clash with the Toffees holds NO added significance for him - despite the fact he could be waving goodbye to the club.

Asked yesterday whether it would be a special moment for him, he said: “No. It is just the last game of the season, and you want to win it.

"After that, we will prepare for the FA Cup Final. It is not the last game of the season for us.”

"It is our last game of the season at the Emirates, yes. But I am really on short-term. I am focused to win the next game. And after that, what happens, happens.

"I am capable to focus on what I think is important in life. And for me, what is important in life is to win the next football game. Because I have done that my whole life.

"You would be surprised. I can completely forget about all the rest. I had always that. I could focus on one special thing and keep my focus on it and forget all the rest.”

Wenger raged recently at clubs with nothing left to play for who he felt were already on holiday and not giving their all in matches crucial for Arsenal and their rivals.

But he reckons already-relegated Sunderland’s dogged display in his side’s 2-0 win on Tuesday gives him hope Boro could do the Gunners a favour.
