Blackpool vs Hartlepool United FC - Kyle Vassell eyeing early comeback as Blackpool take on Hartlepool
Posted Friday, March 24, 2017 by PA
Striker Kyle Vassell could make an early return to the Blackpool team for Saturday's League Two visit of Hartlepool.
The 24-year-old was expected to miss most of the rest of the season after breaking his foot on February 28 but has made swift progress in his recovery.
Mark Cullen has stepped into the breach in Vassell's absence, scoring four goals in his last five games.
Brad Potts and Andy Taylor could both return after missing last weekend's win at Newport but Armand Gnanduillet (groin) is likely to miss out.
Hartlepool boss Dave Jones will wait until the last minute to name his team as he awaits news of his walking wounded.
Striker Rhys Oates missed last weekend's 2-0 home defeat by Wycombe with a thigh strain, while Matthew Bates has been struggling with a virus.
However, both men are hoping to travel, as is Bates' fellow central defender Liam Donnelly following his recovery from a dead leg.
Full-back Carl Magnay played 90 minutes for the reserves on Wednesday as he nears a senior comeback following a knee ligament injury, but keeper Trevor Carson (shoulder) and defender Rob Jones (knee) are still out.
