PSG vs Lyonnais - Unai Emery still targeting success on three fronts

Paris St Germain coach Unai Emery has called on his team to prove a point against Lyon as they continue to chase glory on three fronts.

PSG responded to their stunning Champions League exit with victory at Lorient last time out, but the shadow of their 6-1 hammering in Barcelona hangs over them.

Emery told his club's website: "After the defeat to Barcelona, the team showed at Lorient that they wanted to continue fighting for first place in the league.

"There are still three objectives: the league, the Coupe de France and the Coupe de la Ligue.

"Sunday is a big game against a team in form. The goal is to win and regain our confidence and that of our supporters.

"I watched Lyon's game on Thursday against Roma, it was hard but they were very competitive. They will come to Paris with confidence and it is an important game for them as well."

Second-placed PSG will go into the match knowing whether Monaco have added to their three-point lead at the summit, with the principality side in action at Caen earlier on Sunday.

Emery is without defenders Thomas Meunier and Presnel Kimpembe due to injury and suspension respectively but Thiago Motta, Blaise Matuidi and Layvin Kurzawa return.

"In the absence of Thomas Meunier, Serge (Aurier) is my first option at right-back," said Emery. "I have confidence in him. He has worked well this week."

Opposite number Bruno Genesio still has Europe to occupy him as, despite Thursday's 2-1 loss away to Roma, Lyon completed a 5-4 aggregate win and will face Besiktas in the quarter-finals.

Fourteen points behind third-placed Nice with two games in hand, Genesio has labelled the match a must-win regardless of the quality of the opposition.

He told olweb.fr: "We left everything on the pitch on Thursday, mentally and physically, because the match against Roma was above and beyond in terms of intensity.

"At PSG, they are big players who have the ability to bounce back (from defeat). They have had all week to prepare for this match.

"There is never a good moment to face Paris but it is a good thing to play straight away. We absolutely must win to stay on course for the top three."

Nicolas Nkoulou is suspended while a knee injury rules out Emanuel Mammana.
