Huddersfield boss David Wagner declared himself "proud" of his side after they held Manchester City to a goalless draw in the FA Cup fifth round on Saturday.

The high-flying Championship club more than held their own against Premier League opposition in a tightly-contested game at the John Smith's Stadium.

And they will get the chance to test themselves again as they head to the Etihad for a replay on the week starting February 27.

"I am very proud and very happy the players stuck to their identities and we tried to play our game," said Wagner.

"Did we have some chances? Yes, we had two or three. One very good opportunity from [Rajiv] Van La Parra, but Man City had some good opportunities as well. They were the better team, but that shouldn't be a surprise.

"Of course if we play one of the best teams in the world they will create some chances, but we wanted to show we are one of the fittest teams in the competition, that we are aggressive and brave enough. All of this we have proved today.

"That we now have a rematch makes me happy because I love to see my players playing matches. One game more or less, who cares? We are still in the competition."

Joel Coleman started in goal again for Huddersfield and kept his third clean sheet in three starts in the FA Cup this season.

"We dug deep, put bodies on the line, blocked shots and won challenges; everyone ran their socks off for the whole game," he told the club website.

"The head coach told us to press them, not let them turn, upset them and get in their faces. He asked us to believe we could go and win it.

"David told us we've played well afterwards. We've got a great squad and it's good that everyone is playing and doing so well."
