Danny Latza struck a hat-trick as Mainz came from behind to beat Hamburg 3-1 on Saturday, ending their three-game losing streak and Hamburg's two-game winning run.
Mainz's Jhon Cordoba had an early header saved well by Christian Mathenia, minutes before Bobby Wood put Hamburg in front with a drive from the edge of the penalty area.
Shortly after, Nicolai Muller lifted his shot over Jonas Lossl, but the ball hit the crossbar and the Mainz defence covered in time to clear the rebound ahead of the Hamburg forward.
Mainz levelled before half-time when Danny Latza pounced on a poor clearance by Douglas Santos and struck his shot instinctively low into the bottom left corner.
Latza, who had not scored in 33 previous Bundesliga appearances, added his and Mainz's second with an unstoppable shot from nearly 20 yards.
Latza then completed his hat-trick, and it was better than either of his other two, drilling a shot into the roof of the net from almost 30 yards to seal Mainz's victory.
