Arsenal have plan to prevent Hector Bellerin joining Barcelona or Man City

Hector Bellerin has quickly established himself as one of the best right-backs in Europe, since making his breakthrough with Arsenal two years ago.

The Spain international has tied himself down to the position and while Arsene Wenger spent the summer worrying about bringing in defensive reinforcements, one area where the Arsenal boss has had no concern is at right-back.

Bellerin's fine start to his Arsenal career, which was kickstarted by a loan move to Watford in 2013, exemplified exactly why Barcelona signed the 21-year-old as a kid. However, Arsenal are now eager to tie the right-back down to a new long-term deal, with Bellerin's former club lurking.

According to The Mirror, the Gunners are ready to offer the Spaniard a new five-year deal, which will make him one of the club's top-paid players, in a bid to end the approaches of both Barcelona and Manchester City.

Bellerin still has three years to run on his current contract, but with Pep Guardiola's City having approached Arsenal in the summer, regarding a transfer, Arsene Wenger is keen to ensure the highly-rated young Spaniard remains at the Emirates.

The player's representatives and the club have already agreed to begin negotiations once the international break is over, with the club also under pressure to agree new deals with two other key figures in Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.

And if the north Londoners can agree new deals with the duo, it could help in securing Bellerin's long-term future.

BARCELONA WANT BELLERIN RETURN

Arsenal had hinted at a new deal at the back end of last season, however, discussions had been slow up until now, with the north London club becoming increasingly concerned that, should Bellerin continue his current form, Barcelona may try to lure the Arsenal man back to his native Spain.

However, despite the Gunners being ready to offer Bellerin a big wage package, they are aware that they will have to convince the Spaniard that Arsenal will seriously be competing for trophies over the coming seasons. And the club hope that their business in the transfer window and form so far this season can help to get a deal over the line.
