Torino 2 - 1 Fiorentina: Iago Falque inspires Torino to victory over Fiorentina

Iago Falque scored one goal and set up another as Torino reached eighth place with a 2-1 Serie A victory over Fiorentina at the Stadio Olimpico.

The former Tottenham player bagged a brace against Roma last weekend and carried that momentum into Torino's next fixture with a slick early opener.

In the second half he teed up Marco Benassi for the Granata's second, with Khouma Babacar providing Fiorentina fans with some consolation at the death.

Falque continued where he left off against Roma by opening the scoring in the 15th minute.

After stealing the ball from Carlos Salcedo in the middle of the park, the Spanish winger burst into the area before blasting over Ciprian Tatarusanu's shoulders.

Fiorentina twice threatened to level before the break. First, Nikola Kalinic headed Federico Bernardeschi's cross into Joe Hart's gloves, and Carlos Sanchez soon whipped just wide of a post.

Having taken the threat seriously, Torino made sure to put daylight between themselves and the Tuscans when play resumed.

On the hour, Benassi made it 2-0 after collecting Falque's sumptuous pass to beat the offside trap before giving Tatarusanu the same treatment.

Borja Valero had an opportunity to drag La Viola back into the clash when wriggling free to sting Hart's palms, but it was Babacar who did manage to get Fiorentina on the scoresheet.

With six minutes remaining the Senegalese striker connected with Hrvoje Milic's cross and, with the Torino defence standing like statues, he could not fail to score with a header.
