Sam Allardyce is alleged to have discussed bypassing transfer regulations with businessmen

Allardyce’s judgment has been called into question after it emerged that even before his first match in charge, he had struck a financial agreement with what he thought was a Far East firm looking to profit from Premier League transfers.

However, the “businessmen” were actually undercover reporters from The Daily Telegraph newspaper conducting an investigation which separately found evidence of widespread corruption in British football.

Allardyce held two meetings in which he agreed to act as an ambassador delivering key note speeches in Singapore and Hong Kong and explained how FA rules which prohibit third party ownership of players could be circumvented.

The deal would amount to a potential conflict of interest for Allardyce.

The FA has been handed dossiers of the allegations and are set to speak to Allardyce, who was only appointed at Roy Hodgson’s successor in July.

During the meetings, which lasted four hours and were filmed, the England manager also criticised Hodgson, dubbing him "Woy” and claiming he was too “indecisive” at Euro 2016.

Hodgson resigned as England crashed out of the competition to minnows Iceland and Allardyce realised a lifelong ambition when he was appointed the following month.

"He’d send them all to sleep, Roy. Woy. He hasn’t got the personality for it,” said Allardyce. “Players let him down in the end. I think maybe he, he was too indecisive. Cast a bit of an anxiety over to the players maybe. I mean prior to the Iceland game, he won all 10 qualifiers. We’d drawn with Russia, we should have won. We beat Wales, and that was our worst performance.

"We drew with Slovakia, and we only had to draw with Iceland to get through ... he just collapsed.”

Allardyce went on to criticise Gary Neville, Hodgson’s assistant, over the introduction of substitute Marcus Rashford against Iceland.

"They were arguing for 10 minutes about bringing him on, him and Gary Neville,” said Allardyce. “So Gary was the wrong influence for him. ----ing tell Gary to sit down and shut up, so you can do what you want.

"You’re the manager, you do what you want, not what they anyone else.”

The episode will concern the FA and raise doubts about the suitability of Allardyce, who was handed a two year contract to take charge of the national team in the summer.
