7M Scouting Report - The Manchester Big Two: City want Stones and Moyes targets United flop

Manchester City & John Stones

It's been widely reported that Manchester City are preparing a £50 million offer for the Toffees' John Stones, as Pep Guardiola's reign at the Etihad starts.

According to Daily Mail, Stones has said that he wants to leave Goodison Park in this transfer window with City now ready to begin the bidding for the 22-year-old defender.

The newspaper claims that Stones wants to play under Guardiola, who arrived at the club earlier this month following his remarkable spell at Bayern Munich.

Stones underwent a mixed campaign under former boss Roberto Martinez, often coming in for criticism due to his decision-making with the ball in the back.

With City's aging defensive line, such as injury-inflicted Vincent Kompany, John Stones would stream a new blood into the former Premier League champion. However, his shaky performance in the Merseyside team is not so strange for City fans, because Nicolas Otamendi and Eliaquim Mangala were untrustworthy in last season as well. Therefore if this promising youngster does join Pep's squad, he is yet to become the Messiah for City defense.

Nevertheless, buying Stones is an act that must be enforced if Guardiola is eager to bring some major trophies to his new club. You would probably remember how Chelsea tried so hard to land Stones throughout 2015-16 season, but failed to do so. Now it is a whole new ball game for both parties. One got the money, another got the heart. I think this transfer is most likely going to happen soon, and let's wait and see for the final outcome.

Sunderland & Adnan Januzaj

Somebody wants to in, somebody has to go. After a discontinuous and bumpy ride in the Old Trafford, Adnan Januzaj may bid farewell to Manchester United once again following his current club brought in some big names in the front.

New Sunderland boss David Moyes is keen on raiding his old club Manchester United in an attempt to sign Januzaj.

As reported by the Daily Mail, who claims the former Red Devil manager is plot on adding the 21-year-old to his Black Cats squad, which is inherited from the new England national team gaffer Sam Allardyce.

Moyes took charge of the club last week, and he has already begun working on building a squad to avoid relegation.

The Scot handed Januzaj his professional debut at Man United, appearing at the Stadium of Light, where he scored twice. But after the young Belgian was given such little game time last year, Moyes is hoping to swoop in.

Januzaj appeared just 3 times for United in the Premier League for a combined total of 17 minutes. And after being sent to Borussia Dortmund on loan for the second half of the season, he has returned to United with just 159 Bundesliga minutes under his belt.

David Moyes has said that his goal is not just staying in the Premier League and he wants to lead his squad to a higher position after two disastrous managerial terms. Hence some flops in big clubs would be the easiest way to strengthen his side, like their former Liverpool striker Fabio Borini.

On the other hand, Adnan Januzaj enjoyed the best highlight of his carrer so far under Moyes. Now this so-called United flop has to strive for redemption if he hopes to seek a bigger impact. Still, Adnan is a young lad, smaller club like Sunderland maybe a better place for him to grow. Take Potters pair Bojan and Xherdan Shaqiri as examples with their latest signing Joe Allen, it is time for the Belgian youngster to take on a whole new path.
