Werder Bremen 1 - 2 Augsburg: Augsburg escape drop zone at Werder Bremen's expense

Augsburg moved out of the Bundesliga's bottom three and dumped Werder Bremen into it as they came from behind to win 2-1 at the Weser Stadion.

Florian Grillitsch put Bremen in front with his first goal of the season just before half-time, but goals from Alfred Finnbogason and Hong Jeong-ho turned the tables on Viktor Skripnik's men.

Jannik Vestergaard saw a header saved by Marwin Hitz, who was in for a busy afternoon in the Augsburg goal.

Indeed, it was Bremen who were doing all of the attacking and it seemed only a matter of time before Viktor Skripnik's men would go in front.

That opening goal finally arrived just three minutes before half-time with Grillitsch receiving the ball just outside the penalty area as Augsburg tried to clear a corner, and while his low shot was central, it still managed to find a way past an unconvincing Hitz.

Augsburg came out needing to score in the second half, and they did not need long to do just that.

Caiuby's cross was headed in at the near post by Finnbogason, who extended Bremen's run of games in which they have conceded at least one goal to 32 and put the pressure on the hosts.

Vestergaard's header was cleared off the line by Philipp Max as Bremen tried to hit back, but their hearts were broken late on when defender Hong crept in around the back and met Daniel Baier's free-kick to convert and snatch a vital win for his side.
