Gianluca Vialli: Chelsea must hire this manager to replace Guus Hiddink
NEW MANAGER: Italy boss Antonio Conte is being lined up by Chelsea

The Italy manager has been tipped to replace Guus Hiddink at Stamford Bridge and the former Chelsea boss thinks it would be a smart choice by Roman Abramovich.

Speaking after the 2-1 defeat to Paris St-Germain in the Champions League, Vialli said Conte is known as the 'Italian Mourinho' in his homeland.

He told BT Sport: "I think that probably 50-60 per cent of the trophies won by Chelsea in the last 20 years have been won by Italian manager so I think going for an Italian manager is definitely a good choice.

INTERIM: Guus Hiddink will leave Stamford Bridge in the summer

"In Italy they call him the Italian Mourinho because he's got that kind of personality.

"His teams aways play in a very humble way with a lot of humility and pride and tactically they are always well placed on the pitch.

"He is a winner, he won three consecutive titles with Juventus so I think if he's the guy signing the contract he will be a great choice."

SPECIAL ONE: Chelsea are looking for a permanent replacement after sacking Jose Mourinho

Vialli believes Conte would bring quality and trophies to Chelsea following a dismal season.

They are languishing in 10th in the Premier League and Zlatan Ibrahimovic has confirmed their Champions League exit.

The Blues travel to Everton in the sixth round of the FA Cup - the only trophy they could win this season - on Saturday.
