AC Milan eye summer bid for Marouane Fellaini

AC Milan are lining up a summer bid for Manchester United's Marouane Fellaini, after a loan move for him was rejected in January.
The Belgian has struggled to win over the Old Trafford faithful since making the big-money move from Everton in the summer of 2013.
He came in as part of the doomed David Moyes regime at the club, which lasted less than a season, and the fans have never really deemed him a United-calibre player.
Under Louis van Gaal he's very much been utilised as a plan B if the team are struggling. The Dutchman will introduce Fellaini as a target-man to get balls played into him, so his teammates can feed-off his knock downs. This tactic has had a degree of success, but is often viewed as outdated and inelegant.
The club still clearly see him as part of their plans for the time being at least, as, according to the Mirror, they rebuffed approaches made for Fellaini last month, and he's started their last two in the league.
However, it's understood that Milan would be willing shell out £12 million this summer for the 28-year-old's services, but may not have the resources to match his £100,000-a-week wages.
United's hopes of gaining Champions League football for next season are rapidly diminishing; they're currently fifth, six points behind Manchester City in an ever-widening gap between the top four and rest of the league.
