Sepp Blatter has confirmed he will appeal the decision of FIFA's ethics committee to ban him from football-related activities for eight years.
The former President of FIFA was handed the ban by FIFA's ethics court on Monday morning, along with UEFA President Michel Platini, over an illegal payment between the pair made in 2011.
Speaking at a press conference following the ruling, Blatter maintained his innocence, saying: "I will fight for me and for FIFA. Suspended eight years for what? We go immediately to the appeal committee and to the Court of Arbitration for Sport."
"I'm not ashamed. I regret but I'm not ashamed. I am a man of principles," he added. "I'm sorry for me, for how I'm tainted in this world of humanitarian qualities."
"I am a man of principles, and these principles are: Never take money you have not earned; secondly, pay your debts - but now they are telling me that I tried to buy votes through Michel Platini votes for the 2011 elections."
