Lionel Messi has celebrated winning Goal 50 with fans following his heroics as Barcelona romped to a 4-0 victory over Real Sociedad on Saturday.
The Argentine forward saw off Cristiano Ronaldo to take the award for the fourth time, while his Barca team-mates Luis Suarez and Neymar finished third and fourth respectively.
And he showed his delight at winning the award in a post on Facebook. Messi said the Goal 50 trophy was a reflection of an unforgettable year during which Barcelona won La Liga, Copa del Rey and Champions League treble.
"I’m very happy to be recognised with the Goal 50 award by Goal.com," Messi wrote on his Facebook page.
"We’ve had a very good year collectively and winning these kind of awards just would not be possible without my team-mates. A big hug!
