Arsenal are believed to be working on a deal to sign Mauro Icardi for £35 Million, the Metro claims.
The Argentine ace has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League over the past 12 months, with Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal all linked, but signed a new contract with his current club in June.
Icardi is now under contract until 2019, which is likely to boost his previous price-tag, although that has failed to deter the Gunners, who are pursuing a deal regardless which is said to be around £35 Million.
The Inter forward finished as joint-top goalscorer in the Italian top division last term, and has helped his side to currently sit on top of Serie A with four goals so fat this season.
Arsenal lost Theo Walcott to injury in October which is expected to return next month, but the England international has suffered a number of setbacks in recent seasons, and cannot be considered a long-term option for the central striking role.
Olivier Giroud is the main striker to play up front, but has dropped in form following the lack of competition for the role.
