Espanyol 1 - 1 Granada CF: Felipe Caicedo leaves it late to snatch point for 10-man Espanyol

Felipe Caicedo struck at the death to salvage a point for 10-man Espanyol and deny Granada a first win since August.

The Ecuadorian bundled the ball home from close range in the fourth minute of added time to cancel out Jean-Sylvain Babin's header just before the hour mark.

The hosts' chances of getting anything from the game suffered a setback when defender Rober was sent off with 20 minutes remaining, but Sergio Gonzalez's side did not allow their heads to drop and kept putting pressure on Granada.

They were eventually rewarded with Caicedo's late strike and moved ahead of Sevilla, up to ninth place in the Primera Division. Granada climbed to 18th, but still two points away from safety.

This last-gasp draw would have been particularly galling for Jose Ramon Sandoval's side, who conceded two goals in injury time to draw 3-3 with Sporting Gijon in their last game on the road, also having two players sent off.

The first half was a scrappy affair with few openings for either side, but Granada began the second period with intent, Isaac Success slamming the ball into the side netting shortly after the re-start.

The visitors eventually took the lead when Babin rose to head Piti's free-kick into the net from a tight angle and they were given a further boost when Rober was shown a second yellow card for striking Success in the face.

However, it was Espanyol who grew in confidence.

Abraham squandered a golden chance to level by sending a cross from Ruben Duarte over the bar from close range, but in the 94th minute Marco Asensio forced Andres Fernandez to parry his header and Caicedo followed up to score in the far corner.
