Hartlepool vs Newport preview - Worley worry for Pools

Harry Worley is a major doubt for the Sky Bet League Two clash with Newport as Hartlepool attempt to maintain their 100 per cent start to the season.

The central defender left Bootham Crescent on crutches on Saturday after damaging an ankle just eight minutes into his side's 2-1 victory over York and is struggling to be fit.

Former Middlesbrough man Matthew Bates deputised at the weekend and could be in line for his first start of the season if Worley does not make it.

Pools will have manager Ronnie Moore back in the dugout for the first time since he flew to Spain to be with his daughter Charlotte after she contracted pneumonia while on holiday, with number two Sam Collins having presided over the wins at Fleetwood in the Capital One Cup and York in his absence.

Newport have no fresh injury concerns ahead of their long trip to the north east, with the club's exciting contingent of teenage talent facing another stern test against a team that has a 100 per cent record so far.

County go into the game on the back of a battling 2-2 draw against Stevenage at Rodney Parade but they have still to record a win this term.

Manager Terry Butcher could add to his squad by next weekend and told www.bbc.co.uk: "There has been activity.

"I hope we will have someone else in by the end of the week. We are working very hard to do just that."
