Luton Town vs Newport County preview - McNulty makes Hatters return

Luton have captain Steve McNulty back in their ranks for the visit of Newport.

McNulty missed the FA Cup win over Bury in midweek through suspension but even though the Hatters kept a clean sheet in the second round replay, the burly central defender is expected to go straight back into the starting line-up on Saturday.

Midfielder Luke Rooney will also be fit to face the Exiles despite suffering badly from cramp in the closing stages against Bury.

Paul Benson (broken leg), Luke Guttridge (foot), Alex Lawless (foot) and Pelly Ruddock (hamstring) remain out but the quartet should be back in contention early in January.

Newport boss Justin Edinburgh will have to shuffle his pack after losing three players this week.

The Exiles bid farewell to Curtis Obeng at the end of his loan deal from Swansea while key midfielder Andrew Hughes will not play again this season having sustained a knee injury in last weekend's 2-0 win over Stevenage that will sideline him for nine months.

And to make matters worse for Edinburgh, in-form striker Aaron O'Connor's appeal against his late red card in that match was thrown out by the FA, leaving him facing a three-match ban.

Despite also being without Robbie Willmott, who is already ruled out for the remainder of the campaign, Newport are one of the division's form sides and would go level with Luton if they take all three points.
