Brazil manager Scolari's nephew killed in car crash

Brazil manager Luiz Felipe Scolari was reportedly informed of his nephew's death during Brazil's training session on Tuesday. Tarcisio Joao Schneider was killed in a car crash in Scolari's hometown of Passo Fundo, Brazil. He was 48 years old.

Highway police in the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul said businessman Tarcisio Joao Schneider, the son of one of Scolari's sisters, died in a crash Tuesday morning.
Officer Carlos Borges told The Associated Press that the car Schneider was driving collided head-on with a truck on the opposite lane.
According to The Mirror, Scolari finished the training session before leaving Brazil's base camp, but the Brazilian federation did not confirm whether Scolari would go on compassionate leave to the AP. Brazil will play the first match of the World Cup against Croatia on Thursday.

This is the second death in Scolari's family in as many months. In May, his brother in law passed away from cancer.

Scolari led Brazil to their last World Cup title in 2002 during his first stint as coach of the national team. He then went on to finish second with Portugal at Euro 2004.
