The 31-year-old has revealed that he is near to committing to the French club for another year, while he doesn't expect to be called into the Brazil squad for this year's World Cup
Paris Saint-Germain defender Alex has confirmed that he is close to signing a new one-year contract extension with the club.
Alex joined the French side from Chelsea in 2012 and, since then, he has made over 63 appearances for the Ligue 1 outfit, helping them to become league champions in 2013.
'I am very happy at Paris and we're almost certain to renew my contract,' the defender said in an interview with GloboEsporte. 'I believe that in a week or two we will sign an agreement for another year.'
The defender does not believe he will make it to the World Cup with the Brazil national team, however, he would like the opportunity should he be called up to the squad by head coach Luiz Felipe Scolari.
'Scolari and I shared many happy memories, remembering the time when we worked together at Chelsea,' the 31-year-old added.
'We had a great meeting [earlier in the month], but I think it will be unlikely that I will be called into the national squad for the World Cup this year.
'Two or three players from PSG will probably be called up though and I always hope I will have the opportunity to play for Brazil, but I know and understand that it will be difficult.'
