MANCHESTER UNITED and Chelsea have been told to stump up £12.5m if they want Galatasaray's Wesley Sneijder.

WANTED MAN: Chelsea and Manchester United are interested in signing Sneijder

Quotes have emerged from those in lofty positions within the Turkish club that United had an 'indirect' offer rejected in the summer.

Galatasaray Sportive Coordinator Bülent Tulun confirmed there had been an approach of sorts.

Tulun said: "Sneijder received an indirect offer from Manchester United last summer but it was not accepted."

Galatasaray president Unal Aysal has spoken of Chelsea's interest and named their price.

Aysal said: "If Chelsea were to offer a deal worth over €15 million (£12.5m) I would give Sneijder permission to leave if that's what he wanted."

So now United know exactly how much they need to stump up to sign the Dutch midfielder will they be tempted to go back in for the playmaker?

They certainly have money to spend and David Moyes has indicated the club are ready to spend big in the summer on several occasions.

However, with the arrival of £38m Juan Mata in January and Sneijder being another year older, is he really the man for United?

Sneijder doesn't seem too convinced about a move to Old Trafford and he confirmed United made ANOTHER offer in January.

The dutch midfielder said: "There were clubs who wanted to sign me like Manchester United but I have no intention of leaving and my club have no intention of letting me go.

"Leaving in January didn't even cross my mind and the club have never told me to leave.

"I feel at home here and that's not something you feel everywhere you go."
