Palermo vs Cagliari preview - Sannino and Ficcadenti feeling the heat

Two coaching jobs potentially go on the line at the Stadio Renzo Barbera on Saturday with Palermo's Giuseppe Sannino risking as much as his opposite number from Cagliari, Massimo Ficcadenti.
The Sicilians and the Sardinians have both failed to win either of their first two games this season and another defeat could prove costly, especially in view of the patience levels traditionally shown by their respective club presidents.
Palermo supremo Maurizio Zamparini has already dismissed 37 coaches in 25 years as a club president, 18 since taking control in 2002.
Cagliari boss Massimo Cellini is not far behind that record either, changing coach 32 times in 19 years with the Sardinians.
The chances of one of those statistics changing on Saturday night are therefore high, but Sannino for one is not showing any concern.
"Every coach knows you can have negative moments," he said. "It comes down to how you can cope with them.
"I am a coach who lives for the people, the city which pays me and gives me the chance to work.
"We have to find a way of showing the fans a decent spectacle that they deserve because this is the most passionate footballing city I have worked in."
Zamparini has given him an assurance that, come what may, he will still be in a job on Sunday, telling tuttomercatoweb.it that "the position of the coach is absolutely not up for discussion" and that "he could lose two more games and he still wouldn't be at risk".
"He needs to work and be left in peace and quiet," added the Palermo president.
There have been no such words of encouragement for Ficcadenti, who says that only goals have been lacking for his side so far this season.
"We just need to change our aim in front of goal," he said prior to departure from one Italian island to another.
"The team is in good health and we played on a par with Genoa and Atalanta, creating plenty of chances.
"I am pleased with the work my strikers are doing and am convinced that, sooner or later, they will find a route to goal."
He may make a change to his attack tomorrow, though, by giving Marco Sau his debut.
The 24-year-old has scored 41 goals in the past two years on loan at Foggia and Juve Stabia, but has yet to play in Serie A.
