Matias Silvestre is ready to follow in the footsteps of the departed Lucio at Inter, and develop into a first-team regular at his new club.
The Argentine recently completed his loan move from Palermo to the Nerazzurri and insisted that Inter were always his preferred choice, regardless of the interest of a number of other clubs.
"Replacing Lucio will be a big responsibility but I'm ready for it. There'll be a lot of competition for places at centre-back, but I'm keen to earn my place in the side and I'll try to win everyone's confidence," Silvestre stated at a press conference.
"I'm happy, I think I've come here at the right stage of my career, I've got enough experience and I'm keen to do well.
"There were of course other clubs who showed an interest, but I always wanted to come to Inter, a big club. Another key factor was the number of fellow Argentines here, it will help me to settle."
Silvestre signed a one-year loan deal with Inter.
