He won’t Luiz his cool

CHELSEA boss Andre Villas-Boas has backed David Luiz to stay calm in today’s battle of the hot-heads.

Fiery Luiz (below) comes up against QPR’s controversial captain Joey Barton at Loftus Road.

Luiz, sent off once already in his Chelsea career, was booked again against Genk on Wednesday.

Despite that, Villas-Boas is sure Luiz’s aggressive style will not be a problem.

He said: “I’m not worried about Luiz being booked.

“I see no problem in his game, I think he is a super talent. It’s like a goalkeeper that sometimes concedes a goal, like Petr Cech, it doesn’t mean he’s not one of the best in the world.

“It’s not that he is picking up yellow cards for dissent or bad tackles, he just picks them up when he has to pick them up and that’s no problem.”

The game will be the first time Chelsea have faced one of their London rivals under AVB in the Premier League.

He said: “We spoke about this being an emotional challenge. We are not taking the emotional part lightly.

“We need to be mentally focused and cold-blooded in our emotions.”

Chelsea should come up against old boy Shaun Wright-Phillips this afternoon, who was at the club when AVB was a coach to Jose Mourinho.

The current Stamford Bridge boss said: “I would say he was successful here. He won a Premier League title.

“He made quite an impact in his second year, perhaps not to the extent he was expecting though.”
