Freddy Adu is set to return to Major League Soccer.
According to sources, the 22-year-old midfielder will sign with the Philadelphia Union this week after spending the last four seasons in Europe.
The team was unable to confirm the signing but told Goal.com that there will be a player introduction press conference Friday at 12 p.m. ET held at PPL Park.
Adu will be reunited with Peter Nowak, who coached Adu during his early years with D.C. United.
Adu, who stood out for the U.S. national team during June's Gold Cup, spent last season with Çaykur Rizespor of Turkey's second division on loan from Benfica.
