Silvia Neid to remain Germany coach

The German football federation says Silvia Neid will remain the women’s team coach despite its quarterfinal loss at the World Cup.
Neid met with federation president Theo Zwanziger and other officials on Wednesday and decided to stay on.
Neid’s contract was extended before the World Cup until 2016.
Neid had come under criticism after two-time defending champion Germany’s 1-0 loss to Japan in the quarterfinals but Zwanziger had been supportive of the coach.
