Alberto Aquilani's agent has denied talk of a move to AC Milan, insisting that there has been no contact with the Italian champions.
The 26-year-old left Roma and joined Liverpool in 2009 when Rafael Benitez was still the manager, but was packed away on loan to Juventus when Roy Hodgson was handed the reins.
Juve had the option to buy the midfielder at the end of the season for a sum reported to be in the region of 16 million pounds, but it was believed that the Turin-based outfit did not wish to pay so much for the Italy international.
However, now the player's agent insists that the reason behind the two parties having not come to an agreement is due to Juventus looking for a midfielder who is more defensive than Aquilani.
"I can say that I am not aware of any interest from AC Milan," said Aquilani's agent Franco Zavaglia to Gazzetta dello Sport. "They are just rumours and we have had no contact with Milan.
"Juve have asked us for a few days to reflect and in the meantime, we are looking at the options in Italy and abroad.
"I don't think the problem has to do with the buy-out clause but rather that they [Juventus] are looking for someone whose characteristics are more defensive.
"We will see what happens.
"Whatever happens, Alberto is not left in the middle of the road as he still has three years left of his contract with Liverpool."
