JACK Wilshere is heading for another club versus country row after insisting he wants to play in the 2012 Olympics.

Jack Wilshere has already risked the wrath of Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger by saying he wants to play for the England under-21s at this summer’s European Championship in Denmark.

But now the PFA Young Player of the Year has handed Wenger another headache as he tries to protect the 19-year-old from burn-out.

Wilshere said: “The Olympics are going to be massive in London. It will be brilliant. It would be a dream to play in the Olympics.”

Gunners star Wilshere already has four senior England caps and also has his sights set on the Euro 2012 finals in Poland and Ukraine.

That takes place between June 8 and July 1 – with the Olympic football tournament running between July 25 and August 11.

If Wilshere played in both it would represent a nightmare scenario for Wenger because the player would get no summer break.

FA general secretary Alex Horne, said: “We would have a conversation with Arsene and Jack, to see if it was feasible.

“It means the player  will get no summer holiday – depending on how long we are in Poland and Ukraine for.

“It’s tough. It’s how Arsenal feel about it as they are the employer and as an athlete you have got to take a rest.”

Wenger does not want Wilshere playing for the Young Lions in Denmark this June. But the midfielder insists he does not feel fatigued – despite playing 43 times already for Arsenal alone this season.

Wilshere said: ‘Do I feel tired? To be honest, at the minute, no.

“We are out the Champions League so we have enough time to recover between games. Obviously burn-out might be an issue.

“But the manager at Arsenal will give me the right time off and if I am selected for the under-21s I would never say no to my country.

“It’s England. It is an honour to play at any level and I have played since the under-16s so it is an honour.

“We all feel we have a great chance of winning it as well.”
