3 MORE YEARS FOR FERGIE

SIR ALEX FERGUSON will still be in charge of Manchester United when he celebrates his 70th birthday at the end of this year – whether he wins the Treble or nothing at all this season.

The Daily Star Sunday can reveal today that Fergie has no intention of retiring, despite rumours that he could quit at the top if United end the season in a blaze of glory.

Winning the Premier League would see United overhaul Liverpool’s record of 18 titles – one of Fergie’s greatest ambitions.

But we have been told by sources close to Ferguson that he intends remaining as the boss at Old Trafford for at least another two or three years – regardless of what happens this season.

The United boss remains as committed to his job as ever, having taken charge at arguably the biggest club in the world almost 25 years ago.

Only a deterioration in his health would make Fergie, who will be 70 on New Year’s Eve, reconsider his plans.

And if United were to miss out on the title, the Champions League and the FA Cup, it would make the Scot even more determined to be successful again next season.

Fergie is relishing making significant signings in the summer to add to his established stars and his latest batch of emerging youngsters.

He also wants to continue to guide the development of young talents like prolific Mexico striker Javier Hernandez, central defender Chris Smalling and the Brazilian twins Rafael and Fabio Da Silva.
